Over the past few decades, I have been deeply immersed in illustrating Science Fiction and Fantasy, mostly for the covers of paperback novels. After completing an Arts Foundation course, I spent my late teens driving overhead cranes at a steelworks in my birth town of Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire. I then headed south, where I did an Illustration BA (Hons) Degree at Kingston University, Surrey.
To date, I have illustrated the covers for many hundreds of novels - for some of the best-known Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror authors... a list that includes Arthur C Clarke, Frederik Pohl, Isaac Asimov, Greg Bear, Charles Sheffield, Robert Heinlein, Jack McDevitt, Ruth Rendell, Octavia Butler, Tanith Lee, R L Stine, Olaf Stapledon, Brian Stableford, Shaun Hutson and George R R Martin.
Sir Arthur C Clarke, author of the classic "2001 A Space Odyssey", wrote the foreword to a compendium book of my paintings "Only Visiting This Planet - The Art of Danny Flynn" published by Paper Tiger. I have also worked in the Computer Games Industry, providing Concept Art for projects with EA Games, Frontier and Traveller's Tales (Twinsanity - Crash Bandicoot).
As well as working on a series of pastoral fantasy landscapes for this website, I continue to pursue a long-term objective - to bring the moon to life. Over many years, I have been patiently creating a unique brand of quirky characters, MoonAliens - hundreds of the universe's most colourful misfits and eccentrics who live in a secret "world" deep inside the moon!
